As the possibility of Imran's detention grows, PTI supporters swarm to Bani Gala.
After Imran Khan was charged with terrorism, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and supporters began to swarm to his hometown of Bani Gala, where he currently resides. To protest the potential arrest of the former premier, PTI leaders have urged party members and sympathizers to take to the streets. Former followers of the ruling party hoisted PTI flags and chanted Imran's name.
At Imran's mansion in Bani Gala, several PTI leaders were also in attendance. After arriving in Bani Gala on
Monday, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi met with Imran at his
home.
Senator Faisal Javed urged PTI
supporters to visit Bani Gala while speaking to the media outside the venue. He
added that families with young children and senior citizens have already been
there since Sunday night. To raise the spirits of the PTI supporters now
present in Imran's hometown, he asked for additional people to join. Senator Javed believed that "together
we may achieve Haqeeqi Azadi" (genuine freedom).
The senator asserted that the
struggle for genuine independence has reached a turning point and reminded PTI
supporters that Imran Khan had sworn never to bow down to anyone but the
Almighty. Faisal urged PTI supporters to march to Bani Gala once more, saying,
"Just as Imran Khan has never disappointed the nation, the nation has also
never disappointed Imran Khan."
Additionally, Senator Faisal claimed
that the current coalition government's actions demonstrated that the
"imported government was terrified." Leading a convoy from Faisalabad
to Bani Gala was Farrukh Habib of the PTI. The PTI chairman Imran was arrested in a terrorist case after
reportedly threatening Zeba Chaudhry, an additional session’s judge in the
federal capital, according to Islamabad Saddar Magistrate Ali Javed's
complaint.
Following Imran Khan's speech at the
PTI rally in F9 Park on Saturday at 10 p.m., a first information report (FIR)
was filed with the Margalla police station. The Anti-Terrorism Act's Section 7
is also included in the FIR.
Before a resident of G-11/2 filed a
charge against Imran for uttering hate statements and encouraging rebellion
against the army, police, and judiciary, the FIR was filed at another Islamabad
police station. According
to the FIR filed by the Margalla police, the PTI leader threatened the
additional sessions judge of Islamabad to terrorize senior police
and judicial officials so that they would be unable to perform their duties and
would hold off on taking action against the PTI out of fear of Imran.
Fawad Chaudhry, a senior PTI
official, requested in a tweet that workers go to Imran's Bani Gala home,
noting that there were already hundreds of people there. InshaAllah, thousands of
people will be at Bani Gala in a short while, he continued.
When speaking to the media, Party
Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi advised party members to be ready and wait
for the party to call for a protest if Imran was detained.
He claimed they were worried
about the coalition government's intentions to detain the party leader,
declaring that "Imran is our red line and conspirators would suffer
consequences."
PTI chairman Imran Khan, who was
charged with terrorism for threatening a second session’s court judge, has
submitted a request for pre-arrest release to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Lawyers Babar Awan and Faisal
Chaudhry claimed Imran had no prior criminal history in their pre-arrest bail
application. It added that the former premier was prepared for any probe
related to the case and asked the high court to approve the application.
